Cranio-sacral Therapy is a very gentle alternative therapy. It can be helpful in calming the central nervous system, so useful in treating conditions such as stress and anxiety. It is an incredibly peaceful and relaxing treatment that involves gentle placing of hands on the body, which in turns allows the deep fascia (connective tissue) in the body to relax and lengthen. This is particularly helpful after childbirth, to help ease the pelvis back into its pre-birth position.

Cranio-Sacral Therapist

Hello! My name’s Nicky and I’m a mum of 2 gorgeous little girls. I’m also a musculoskeletal and women’s health physio and a cranio-sacral therapist. Sounds technical I know, but essentially I’m all about backs, joints, muscles, your well-being and your lady bits! I’ve been practising for over 16 years but things changed for me after having my first daughter. I was blown away by just how physically and mentally tough being a mum was. It’s really hard. I mean we should be applauded daily for what we go through but instead, on a daily basis we cope with various bodily fluids being wiped across us; picking-up wriggly children; managing the food in (and out) of your child, running our home, sometimes going to
actual work – need I go on?

It’s tough on our minds and it’s tough on our bodies. Yet one of the most common but most under discussed problems we face is the physical aftermath of having kids. A pelvic floor that causes you to leak a bit of wee (or poo), endless back ache, a gap in your tummy that makes sit-ups look and feel impossible ….the list is pretty endless, and along with all of that often comes a self-confidence that ends up on the floor.

So that’s where I come in. I’m passionate about helping women understand and get what they really need after having a child (however long ago it was). Whether it’s a Mummy MOT where we check over your tummy, back and pelvic floor; a massage to ease the strain of daily life, or even a cranio-sacral session which is just the most relaxing thing you’ll ever have – I’m your woman!

Like all the amazing therapists we have on our website, I will spend a lot of time talking to you, really understanding what your daily life looks like and then tailor a treatment that realistically works for you. And that’s the key to real success – and change for you. No long winded exercise plans or idealistic advice that are highly impractical for most people, let alone a busy mum – instead I will teach you about you, give you the tools to make yourself better and support you with treatment along the way. I try and do it with a smile and some humour too – I recognise some of our problems aren’t the easiest to talk about, but remember I’ve been there too and suffered most of them.
